How to Manage Anger in the Workplace : How to Manage Difficult People & Anger in the Workplace

Hi, I’m Brenda F. Dixon, a licensed clinical
social worker here in Nashville, Tennessee and we’re here with Expert Village today.
How do you manage these people? These people that just bother you? They irritate you. We’ll
the first thing that I want you to know is that when they’re bothering you, when anger
is starting to kind of brew on the inside of you and it starting to irritate you, let
it be known that it’s something that is tapping from your life. It’s something that is going
on with you internally. Most people say, well if they didn’t do that, I wouldn’t have the
anger. No, it’s not that way at all. It’s what is going on internally that’s being tapped.
Anybody that gets angry, let it be known that what they’re getting angry about, the other
person has a right to behave any way that they so choose. When you’re getting angry,
you’re getting angry from something that has been touched internally. Now I know that’s
another whole subject and we’re not going to go into all those details, and each particular
person has to work out their own, their own whatever it is they’re going through. I have
people come into my counseling room and they will say, I have anger because blah, blah,
blah has happened. I have anger because in the classroom I saw some kids that came in
with a stupidest looking outfit on. Well let it be known that that was the outfit that
they chose and when you called it stupid, it was something that was going on in the
inside of you. It really changes the look of anger, doesn’t it? When you start to look
at it and you think, it’s about me, it’s about my response. So be careful when you start
to look at somebody and they are making you angry. It’s a choice that you have that you
have allowed yourself to become angry.

  1. Totally disagree with this woman.
    Depression = Anger turned inwards
    meaning……. That most of the people have to swallow and take shit from everyone. Well….some one has to say something. Two wrongs does not make a right? well.You would be surprise how to wrongs make a right .

  2. I don't think she includes bullying, just anger that builds up in you because of the things that you experience around you. 🙂
